Dr. Joe Pettigrew is co-founder of In The Zone.
Joe received his BA Degree in Music from the University of Tennessee, his Masters Degree in Management from Murray State University and his Ph.D. in Leadership from the University of Memphis. He is a fellow with the American Management Institute, National Association of Leadership Executives, and a member of the Emerging Leaders National Board.
Joe began his career out of college as a professional musician. He played and toured with such artists as Al Green, Bob Hope, Barbara Mandrell, Isaac Hayes and the Doobie Brothers. His musical groups have performed in the Pasadena Rose Bowl, FedEx Orange Bowl, Carnegie Hall and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Dr. Pettigrew has taught on the leadership adjunct faculty at some of the nation’s most prestigious academic institutions including Harvard, Duke and The University of Chicago. He was a college professor and also served for ten years as a University Dean. Joe has been the keynote speaker for American Express, Ford Motor Company, Federal Express, National Association of Realtors, General Electric, NIKE, The American Management Institution.
He is the owner of Leaderpoint Consulting Group, which is located in Germantown, Tennessee. Leaderpoint is a global leadership consulting firm specializing in talent management for senior executives. They are the trusted advisor to the world’s leading businesses, governments and hospitals. Dr. Pettigrew and his organization has worked with 117 of America’s Fortune 500 companies. He has been featured in the Harvard Business Review, Fortune, U.S.A. Today and the Wall Street Journal. Leaderpoint’s clients have included such organizations as General Motors, Apple Computers, Delta Airlines, Hilton and Chick-fl-A.
Joe has always been very involved in the United Methodist Church. He is an active Sunday School teacher, Disciple Bible Study facilitator, andHe has served on man local church committees including Chairman of the Administrative Council, Head of the Trustees, and Chairman of the Pastor Parish Relations committee. He has also had numerous conference positions and has served as a delegate. Joe has spoken in numerous United Methodist Churches as a lay and conference speaker.
Joe has been married for 37 years to Trudy Pettigrew and they have three children. Ashley is a new mom that lives in Denver, Colorado, Tara is a United Methodist Children’s Minister that lives in Memphis, and Tyler is a manager with an international logistic firm.
Kyle Rote, Jr is the co-founder of In The Zone.
He has spoken in Washington, D.C. for 3 U.S. Presidents and in London for Prince Philip. At the pinnacle of his athletic career, Kyle took a year off to assist Mother Teresa and others in the battle against hunger. He was selected “One of the Ten Outstanding Young People in the World” in 1985.
Athletically, ESPN The Magazine named him the greatest athlete of all time in its “Year 2000 - Special Edition” due , in part, to his dominance in the wildly popular ABC-TV “Wide World of Sports” SuperStars Competitions that aired in the 1970’s. In those 10 event challenges, Kyle defeated 3 Olympic Decathlon Gold Medalists and dozens of future Hall of Famers like OJ Simpson, Lynn Swann, Roger Staubach, Reggie Jackson, Lou Brock, Sugar Ray Leonard, Joe Frazier, Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe, “Dr.J” Julius Erving, and John Havlicek . Kyle won the event 3 of the 4 years he participated.
Kyle is also a Soccer Hall of Famer - and was the first American born player to win the North American Soccer League’s Scoring Title. He enjoyed the honor of playing for the U.S.A.’s National team for 4 years against some of the world’s best teams and players.
Today, he is the retired CEO of a 26 year old sports agency he started that has represented hundreds of this generation’s greatest athletes including Reggie White, Darrell Green, Scottie Pippen, & Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. In addition, the agency has also represented dozens of coaching icons and personalities like Alabama’s Nick Saban, South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier, and the NFL’s Bill Parcells among many others.
Kyle has been very active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (“FCA”) as a popular speaker and multi term member of the Board of Trustees.
Author of 4 books including publisher ThomasNelson’s recent release of Living Life In the Zone (with co-author Dr. Joe Pettigrew) a 40 day “easy to read” devotional using short stories of modern sports and business personalities to teach and reaffirm eternal Biblical truths.
Kyle and his wife Mary Lynne have been married for 38 years while having the additional joy of raising Will, John, Josie and Ben in their 29 years of residency in Memphis, Tennessee. Members of Christ United Methodist Church for over 20 years.
